{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool - A Quick Liverpool Perspective
22 Dec 2025 20:05:24
Great review ed as always. Like you say the worry is the football and fitness is not improving. It was a very poor performance and totally agree with you it has to be the most meek weak Liverpool team ever.
{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. It is worrying watching us. Still, at least we won.}

Enjoyed your review Ed. Can't see macca lasting in this team although he played well last season, would sacrifice him for a physical midfield player. Do you think Anderson from forest would be a good addition ed?
{Ed001's Note - did he play well last season? He had a handful of good games and a few good moments on top, but mostly I was not impressed with him last season. Massively overrated imo.
Anderson would be an excellent replacement, a huge upgrade.}

Another spot on review Ed001 mate…
I really hope we still have interest in Semenyo! I think he would be a great addition
Cheers
Drogie.
{Ed001's Note - I think we need a centre back far more.}

Fantastic review and spot on! Feel like we are getting away with results in recent weeks as opposed to turning a corner with better performances, opposition has also been quiet weak! It appears glaringly obvious that fitness is a major concern across the whole team, how many times has one of our players went down or been subbed off with cramp this season despite the fact that we play with zero intensity and press considerably less than previous seasons.
Eds is this some sort of misguided strategy by the coaching team to build over the season and finish stronger or? Surely it’s smacking Slot and his team in the face.
{Ed001's Note - it is meant to keep us fresher, but we just look slow, weak and injury prone.}

Great review ed thankyou.
What is going on with Macca? He even looks to me like he has lost weight and looks exhausted. I have worried about the potential of him struggling with an illness or mental health issues or sonething due to the extended rest and his recent performsnces. Complete speculation like but he is a shadow of the player we signed. Anyway he should be nowhere near the team with his recent performances.
{Ed001's Note - thank you.
Personally I am just not a big fan and think it is just people are finally noticing how bad he is.}

Great post and write up Ed1 ever thought about sending these to Hughes as a debrief to how crap Slot is…. Appreciate these I know they must be difficult to rewatch these games and have to find any bloody positives!
{Ed001's Note - I don't know Hughes to send it to him. Plus I doubt he would be interested in what I had to say anyway.}

Thanks for that review Edd it was a good read and bang on imo.
This slow play worries me so much how, why are we looking to buy strong runners like Semenyo? This pace won't suite him. Will turn a very good player into an average one.
{Ed001's Note - thank you.
We shouldn't stop buying good players for that reason, we should just alter the way we play to suit our players.}

Lets hope the legs have been saved for the second half of the season.

Great review Ed.
On Wirtz, the lad looks bulkier to my eye since he first came in. One key improvement outside of him connecting with other players to my eye is he looks far far stronger on the ball in terms of strength if someone leans on him or shoulders him. And it's paying dividends.
I still think he would cause ten times as much havoc if the team was playing at a faster pace. I feel like we re wasting him right now. Even though he is still having an affect.

Top notch, Ed. The way we are playing is going to get us in a lot of trouble if things don't change. They say the slow, laborious play was to conserve energy. Well if our players keep dropping like flies cos the fitness and conditioning levels are severely inadequate then, the purpose of saving energy will be nullified eventually.
As for Macca, I agree with you and it pains me to the nth degree to say it. His legs look to have gone. ALready, he wasn't the most athletic or the most mobile BUT right now, he is getting pancaked all over the place. You don't even need to do much to bully him and him flopping to the ground is just disgraceful at this point.
However if you are Slot and prone a possession style of keep-ball at all costs as the first priority then, Macca is your guy. Even tho, he makes us look like we are one man short.
Happy Holidays to you and yours, man.

First game iv not watched this season . reading ED001 review it looks ssdd, all the bad things we've done all season seem to be in the review. its the slow play that's killing us, we haven't got the players for that . plus the usual suspects all having a nightmare yet again.
22 Dec 2025 23:49:06
Thanks for the review Ed. It was a great read.

Nice review, can't stop laughing on macca's "Special" intro.
Finally people are opening their eyes and realizing that we are carrying a free ticket for last 2 years.
Wish Eliott or Jones or Morton or McConnnel had got the game time.
23 Dec 2025 07:29:52
Personally I thought Mac was class last season.
23 Dec 2025 07:50:12
Great write-up, Ed - nothing unusual there.
Macca was somewhat of a technical improvement over what we had before (Milner, an aging Henderson), though far less of a player. Added to the fact he is Argentinian, and has the connections with Messi and a World Cup medal, rather than being from a less fashionable footballing nation, and you have a few of the ingredients as to why Mac Allister is grossly overrated.
I would go as far as to say Mac Allister is just downright c**p, not just overrated.

There used to be a saying years back ‘ Get fit to play, not play to get fit”. Recent conversations on here triggered my memory of the old adage.
