Interested in opinions. Now it looks likely we don't get Guehi over the line in Jan. then it becomes a lottery in the summer.
It's clear the defence needs focusing on and that canot be ignored. What do we go for? Experience? Or Potential?
We may as well Keep Kanobedd as we won't be getting a fee for him anyway. I don't think we should offer a new contract. That leaves VVD. So it's looking like a possible crisis on the horizon.
If we don't buy potential! Do we loan players to provide cover
The ITKs perhaps have a view? It's a tricky time for us as a club. I'm not sure top draw players look at slot as fondly as the media do . The teams in the top 4 play much better progressive football than we do. The horse shoe method wouldn't be exciting to play in.

Have you watched Arsenal and Chelsea a lot this season? We get slaughtered for our style of play but its certainly no worse than them two. So many times Arsenal rely on setpieces to open the scoring and Chelsea do have me dozing off nearly every game.
Slot managed to get Wirtz to sign over Citys Pep and Bayern Munich and Isak over going to play for Arteta at Arsenal, not struggling too much.

Getting Wirtz and Isak over the line befor the season started was understandable.
Not now though, if you think Chelsea make fall to sleep LFC must make you close to comatose.
At least they score goals for gods sake and don't concede a like we do. Not sure Wirtz would sign now.

Agree Florian
Watched Arsenal / Palace last night and they weren’t great either and not forgetting Arsenal laboured against Everton and Wolves!
The negative comments on here are off the scale and like I said before EVERY negative issue seems to be laid solely at Slots door!
Yes the squad needs reinforcements and I think the club will bring some in, might not be players everyone agrees with but I didn’t see too many complaints after the summer window!
The season is far from over, it’s a transition season and it’s a transition that’s needed with ageing iconic players coming to the end of their days - everyone goes on about the lack of press and energy in midfield but our midfield has laboured for a few seasons now since the prime days of Hendo, Gini and Fabinho!
We’ve missed the class and guile of Bobby for a good few seasons and when we get a potential superstar in Wirtz nearly everyine wants to write him off cus he hasn’t hit the ground running!
We’ve brought in a young left back and because he’s not played like prime Robbo the kid has been crucified!
Big plus is Hugo and I still think Isak will do the business for us when he’s back!
Show some faith lads - new year, new start!
Merry Christmas to all especially the Ed’s and a big thanks for all the reply’s to my comments even if they’re not always agreeable!
Onwards and upwards!

We need both, and fast. Konate is unreliable, and God only knows here he'll be come September, Van Dijks had his worst season since joining, not to mention he's coming into his final year. will we let the contract run out or try to cash in on a Saudi deal this summer? We currently have no backup and Leoni has had a possibly career altering injury.
We need to bring in 2 CB's in the next 6 months to avoid issue. We're currently experiencing what happens when you leave signing replacements until the last minute. If he club put themselves in that position again they've only got themselves to blame.

Cant see us getting Guehi this transfer window . Everything will be in the players favour at the end of the season, he can have his pick of clubs and for more wages .
its a win win for the player n I don't blame him if he waited till the summer to move after what Palace done to him on the last day of the transfer season.

Agree Other teams in the league are awful but without sounding pretentious I don’t spend hundreds of pounds on them a month following them so it doesn’t really have any kind of emotional baring on me.
In all the years I’ve followed the club I’ve seen us have more seasons where we haven’t won anything over seaons we have so it’s not even about winning. Being a spoilt supporter that I am I do like to be entertained watching my club and currently that isn’t happening and my eagerness to go to actual games is waning every week.
Standard of games throughout the premier league isn't much better. Can’t remember the last full game I watched not involving us. I managed about 30 mins of the Villa arsenal game the other week mind.

As much as I hate United JK, the United Bournemouth game was an absolute perler. not because of the quality, but an old school you attack we attack approach.

The problem with the Premier League has been around since it was introduced. Football as entertainment was replaced by football as a business. When Sky took over coverage of the game I was living in Portsmouth - well Locks Heath to be exact - and I used to w arch the Monday night game with a group of lads who supported different teams but who had a love for the game (and a couple of pints on a Monday night) . Right from the very start of the first match Sky were promoting next week’s game as the best game ever see. They were at it non-stop and their sole purpose was to entice new Sky subscribers and not a lot to do with football. Of course, the more subscribers the greater the vicious circle.
The United Bournemouth game was a throwback - a bit of a teaser for what the game used to be like when teams tried to win, rather than not get beat and reducing damage to the brand.
Like I said earlier in the week, perhaps with the exception of City who have played well in the couple of games I’ve seen them play, the teams I have watched haven’t been entertaining at all. Look at us, we spent half a billion on 6 players during the summer - I defy anybody to say that we are entertaining. We ranged from inept to mediocre (with two or three exceptions) in 20 odd games this season and the scary thing for the game we are in joint 4th / 5th in one of the “best” leagues in the world. It’s not a game anymore, it’s one set of corporate assets lining up against another set of corporate assets and may the one with access to the (sometimes / oftentimes dodgy) greatest revenue stream win.

With Chelsea scoring way more than us and not conceding like we do they must be miles ahead of us in the table. ?.

Couldn’t agree more WDW.
25 Dec 2025 01:07:00
Absolutely true, WDW, the amount of money riding on every game makes every play and every decision a matter of risk management more than anything.
