I actually think losing Semenyo if true puts us back to being a top 8 team and going back to obtaining CL being seen as a ‘success. ’ Rather than challenging for the PL. Even if the alternative is Olise, the character and drive of Semenyo is exactly what we need right now.

I think the next few games will be tough, I envisage we scrape by or draw with wolves, lose at both Fulham and Arsenal and if Leeds decide to attack us I can see us falling to pieces again. Also have a feeling our injury problems are about to become worse. We are playing as though everyone knows Slot is going to get sacked, so whatever happens, happens, rather than their being any real fight in the team.

When were we last a top eight team, Bob?
We finished fifth few seasons ago, I'll give you that, but we slipped out of the top four rather than solidified top eight.
We can't challenge for the title every season. No team can. City have been the main challengers recently but they don't challenge every season.

An' another fing (said like Micky Flanagan), just buying players in January doesn't automatically make you title challengers. City bought a load in the last January window and they ended up top four.

We are looking a bit short for options up top.

Isak - possibly out for the season
Salah - away for 4 weeks and no one actually knows his current predicament after his interview.
Chiesa - doesn’t play
Rio - only 17.

So that leaves Ekitike, Wirtz and Gakpo as definites.

City have won the league 6 times out of the last 8 seasons as much as we like to compare ourselves to them they’re a different level.

Rigsby City win it most seasons so that’s a rubbish argument and aside from the two times Liverpool have won it they’ve always been there challenging.

Bob
I cringe at your post. How did you work out all these negativity? Invariably, Semenyo would have saved us from your preconceived doom? Knowing this game, we could just start playing our best football from the next game.

Kudos to the eds for putting up with these sort of strange posts. I'm sure this is just one of a thousand. Well done Eds and Merry Christmas to you all.

City have a proper manager that wants to play football. We have an idiot that's going to set us back 20 years.

24 Dec 2025 11:23:32
Wow, losing out on semenyo means we are a top 8 team haha
Incredible that the lad can be that pivotal of a player.

24 Dec 2025 11:36:31
How exactly did we go from Semenyo only wanting us, to now him choosing City?

Where exactly did it go wrong?

Is this Guehi all over again? We know that we need the reinforcement, but we don't follow it through.

I know its all rumors at this point, but if its true that we move from Semenyo for some of the other Dutch players that were mentioned, then im worried about Slot trying to build a clique within the team.

24 Dec 2025 12:09:11
Gakpo is injured as well.

24 Dec 2025 12:25:52
Bob, you won't see me say getting CL footie as some kind of success this season. Us getting tCL would be the minimum.

Us not showing (at least for right now) a pulse in the title race, is what I find disappointing and the sad fact is that, we did this to ourselves. It did not have to be this way.

24 Dec 2025 13:28:58
How can one player make you either title challengers or top 8?

Ridiculous post.

24 Dec 2025 13:30:29
I would have thought that by now we would have learnt that " buying", by itself, is not the guarantee everyone assumes it to be. Sure, we need players; no doubt about it. But it's not the "solve-all" most think it is.

We just had a blockbuster of a summer; and easily the most potent team in the EPL, on paper, in my view. And look at what has happened and is still happening.

24 Dec 2025 14:16:22
That's down to the manager not the players we bought.

24 Dec 2025 15:38:34
I’d take top 8 now.

There were knobs on the Bluemoon site last year calling for Pep to be sacked in November when City lost 9 matches in an 8 week period. Same posters over and over again for weeks. Seems not even proper managers are immune to the fickleness of the more ardent online warriors.

24 Dec 2025 21:47:28
I bet Pep wasnt getting the idiot, imbecile and Moron treatment though.
