Something that has confused me lately
Is the talk of loyalty from players I. E trent
Yet I see a lot of poster wanting slot out?
Where is the loyalty to him.
It’s not loyalty you care about its quality. Your not angry trent wasn’t loyal your angry he was good and left.
Also you will demand players “step up” to move to Liverpool but when a player thinks Barcelona or Real Madrid is a step up to leave us that’s wrong.
I think if you want loyalty from people you should try giving it first.
I’m sure someone will try to belittle my opinion. But I stand by it you either want loyalty or quality. And we need to accept the 2 Spanish teams are better options too. Great wages, better weather and culture better lifestyle. Why wouldn’t they leave the uk for Spain.

Fans are loyal to the club as an institution not necessarily the individuals that make it up. Trent said he was a fan so people expected him to show loyalty.

I think one of the reasons a lot of people were so annoyed with Trent was the fact that he kept everyone guessing for a long time when he knew he was leaving, that on top of the fact that he's a homegrown scouser felt like a slap in the ace to a lot fans.
I know its not the club policy to talk about contracts and such before deals are made but I think given the situation with Trent, he would have got a lot more respect if he had just come out and said it honestly back in 24. It also would have given the fans more time to process which I believe would have greatly reduced criticism.
Instead, he just danced around the questions whilst learning how to speak Spanish. That's the football equivalent of txting your missus sister if you ask me.

Paul H . I gather you are not from Liverpool, we didn't get mad because Trent wanted to leave or try something new . it was thr way the Spanish Judas went about it . he is from the city n knows how it works . he then left on a free which is an insult to all the fans born here .
as for loyalty we more or less made him into the player he became n he got to away with a lot because he was from the city ( one of our own ) so where was his loyalty. different scenario with other players and managers.

I think we are mixing up quite a few things here.
Firstly in the words of ed002 all players and any manager are transient employees of the club. They come and they go.
If they want to leave that’s absolutely fine. If they have given their all of the club I would wish them well. Good luck to you.
Similarly, if you’re underperforming you aren't immune to being told that.
As for Trent though he isn’t like normal players. If Konate or Macca want to up sticks and go to Madrid, fine. Trent was one of us. The scouser in the team. He was the vice captain of a title winning team. He wasn’t leaving a down trodden team to go for glory. He could have led his club to further glory. Instead he chose to follow his own glory. Which is fine btw but as a fan is something I will never understand. There is zero chance if I was in his position I would consider the bright lights of Madrid for a single second. He was living the dream young Liverpool fans (and old ones) all over the world would give anything for. Stevie has basically just said the same in that recent interview.

I think he made himself with dedication and the support of his family.

Sorry, I am loyal to no one. Not a single soul. I support my team and it's players. Im not in a cult or in the "support the club no matter what" brigade. Again, Im not in a cult.
If my club does something wrong and embarrassing then, they will get the business. Same goes for the manager and the players. The inverse is the same cos if they do well, they will get my praise.
As for Slot, I am against him cos he has destroyed everything he built with this team last season and has implemented a system that has embarrassed the club and made the players look completely out of their depth. Worse, he continues to quadruple down on this system. The last few wins (good for the club and fans, btw) wins will NEVER compensate for the dross he has been serving up. Cos that stuff will eventually come for you, IMO.
Trent? We didn't make Trent or Salah or anyone cos if they were useless, we would have sent them packing and moved on, end of. This is a myth of epic prportions. He made his decison and I am intelligent enuff to know that people will do what they think is best for their lot in life regardless of what I think. Why would I be against Trent cos he is human? It's his life, is it not? Those slamming him would do the exact same thing and I would have nothing against them, either.
Life is life. People will do what is best for them and their interests. We all do that. Get over it.

Don’t hate Trent cos he left I hate the fact he said nothing was decided while learning Spanish knowing it was. He’s a greedy fart. As for the slot out shout yeh no probs with that we getting to watch crap football weekly. If the football improved weekly he could probably get a pass but it gets worse while blaming players ( konate scene of the crime) when Gomez is sat on the bench.

Not sure about the weather in Madrid being better. I would far rather do a pre-season on Merseyside than in the unbearable roiling heat of Madrid in July and August.
Trent didn’t go to Madrid because he thinks they are better than us; he went because he wanted a new challenge (having won every competition with us), and only a handful of UK players have been successful overseas.
He didn’t cost us a transfer fee, so I see no harm in him running his contract down, knowing that a transfer fee would make a move abroad much less likely.
I thought he behaved with great dignity throughout a difficult situation (as did Virgil) . Quite the contrast to Mo.
