If we’re happy to treat a club legend with disregard and are ok with him being sold behind his back for a fee, then we can’t complain at how TAA treated the club. Wrong in every way to treat Salah the way he is being treated at the first sign of some drop off in form.

That in all honesty is due to Slot and wider issues. Salah never been the issue, but Slot is. Hughes / Edwards just protecting themselves from having spent £400m+ and taking us backwards. Long term those with the meticulous power play will destroy our club.

Agreed. Absolutely unacceptable way to treat one of our greatest ever players

Also, I see everyone's talking about "Mo got dropped because he's playing bad. It's his own fault. " But WHY is he playing so bad?! The entire team is in shocking form. Is that Mo's fault too? It's just not possible for a whole squad bar maybe 2 players to become rubbish overnight, and for that to continue for months. Taking time for new players to click does not result in performances this poor for this long either. The excuses that Slot's army are coming up with don't make any sense this far into the season. AIf they were right, you'd would see glimmers of greatness here and there, peppered amongst the dirt. Or glimmers of hope at least. Yet no sign of it. No sign of Slot even having a real plan.

Slot has already admitted that him and Salah don't agree on everything, and early in the season Mo talked about the difficulty of learning how to adapt to playing with the new signings. Are these hints that Slot has been employing an attacking style that really doesn't suit Mo? Something he's already voiced concerns to the manager about to no effect?

Whatever's going on, it's clearly affecting the whole team. And It's easy to understand why Mo feels he's been thrown under the bus, put yourself in his shoes, he's always the first one criticised in the media. yet there's players in the squad that deserved to be dropped months ago, Konate should never wear the Liverpool shirt again. We'd be better off bringing one of the lads off the youth squad. Gakpo is absolutely muck week in week out, starts every match, nobody mentions him in the media, clearly Slot shows favouritism there. MacAllister and Grav are letting the opposition saunter through the midfield like their out for a Sunday stroll. Van Dijks "defending" has been criminal at times, he spends most of his time running backwards and just hoping they don't score. Outside of Szoboslai and Ekitike I can't think of a single player who doesn't deserve to be dropped.

I think the 2 cases are a bit different to be honest.
I suppose look at it from a cold hearted business point of view though. A player is on enormous wages, at the tail end of his career and can still be sold for a huge fee, and is and has been playing terrible for ages now.

I don’t blame the club for wanting to sell him.
Have they gone about it the right way? Probably not and it is harsh on Mo, but I can’t blame them for wanting to cash in and reinvest.

Not just a "drop off" is it, been going on for months now!

Trent did nothing wrong. He saw out his contract and went somewhere else and good luck to him. He didn’t play it out in the press or criticise anyone or do anything to derail our season.

If Salah had kept his council and done things properly then we’d all have sympathy with him and be angry at the club for treating a legend of the club this way if indeed that is the case.

However nothing can excuse Salah mouthing off to the press in the way that he did and all he’s done is make it easier for the club to get rid of him. It’s selfish and it’s stupid no matter which way you look at it.

If anyone else went to the press and criticised their bosses to the world they’d expect to get the sack. Why should Salah expect anything different?

2 very different situations.

Salah - If a player ain't playing well he deserves to be dropped if an adequate replacement is in the squad. I don't get this its wrong to treat a player this way because they are a legend. Its perfectly fine to drop a player regardless of who they are, if they ain't pulling their weight. Is there other players that deserve to be dropped? Yes but we don't really have anyone to replace Konate. Macca is a different story mind. Plus players get offered to other clubs all the time, its just the way of things.

Hewhoshouldnotbenamed - local lad, who's dream it was to play for his club, his people. Doesn't sign a contract and learns Spanish over a 2 year period just so he can take a crap on the club.

The Spanish RB is a rat of the highest level. No one thinks that of Salah, yes we are unhappy with what he has done because he shouldn't of done it. He knows what he was doing, its all about him and not the club. Which we all knew anyway. Its more the timing of it, rather than helping its a hinderence.

This spending big nonsense needs to stop. We've got a net spend less than Spurs over the last 4windows. What about when Salahs agent was hawking him around Europe trying to drum up interest.

09 Dec 2025 15:28:35
What do you suggest we do Abz, keep playing a player who's been lousy all season? And as as been said, he can sit out the remaining 18 months of his contract, if he wishes to, like Trent did and then got pelters on here and booed inside the ground.

And what is "meticulous power play"? I'm fairly confident our club won't be destroyed.

09 Dec 2025 17:03:01
Rome, we literally play a player who has been lousy not just all season, on a biweekly basis in Konate YET Slot waffles about making excuses for why he should keep playing. Same with Gakpo. That is exactly what Salah is saying that a lot of people are missing for reasons I can guess but not sure about.

How is it possible that other players can play crap and still get picked while he plays crap and gets benched and when he approaches the manager for feedback, he gets ignored?

Don't forget that the club went behind Salah's back to get him out of the club and have clearly used this whole "benching" crap as a crutch to stand on.

The disrespect from the club is reprehensible YET people want Salah to back and respect the club whereas they blatantly disrespected him with such cowardly tactics.

{Ed025's Note - who told you the club went behind his back to get him out the club Oli?..

09 Dec 2025 17:35:10
Oli, I've said in another post that other players should've been benched as well. Do you think if we'd have dropped Konate and Gakpo that Salah would've kept quiet? Of course he wouldn't. All what Mo is interested in is Mo.

How do you know he's approached the manager for feedback? And as Ed025 as asked, who told you the club went behind his back? You, and others, are just making things up to support your views.

For the last time, because I'm starting to bore myself, Salah was bang out of order. I can't see a way back for him, thoughI hope I get to see him at the Brighton game. I would hate my last memory of him to be playing against Sunderland, when he was nothing short of lousy.

Salah can't be sold behind his back.
You see, the club that is trying to sell him behind his back gave him a massive contract that means he can't be sold behind his back.

If Salah has been playing crap then why doesn't he do something about it? Other players being worse doesn't mean that he shouldn't be dropped. Why not work a bit harder to get back in the team?
And Slot did mention wanting to play another midfielder so Szob comes in for an underperforming Salah. That allows Grav and Mac/ Jones to sit, Wirtz to play further forward and still have Szob's energy on the pitch. Salah still has a lot to offer but he was dropped because we can't play all these attacking midfielders in midfield and one can do a job on the right of a front three. If Salah or Szob were more natural left sided players then Gakpo may well have been replaced.
