Not saying he is the answer to our problems but maybe Elliot returning from loan is a welcome addition is this system? I always found him too lightweight for a midfield 3 and not quick enough for the flank but he could get game time now that we play with 4/ 5 midfielders. He will be protected and do what Writz does but from the right. The left foot creates another angle, could push Dom into Maccas position who is offering nothing.
Alwahs thought Elliot and TAA never worked and often wanted simialr spaces but a Frimpong is perfect for Elliot. By no means a long term solution but decent rotation option while injuries mount and we play this system? I see some home games and the bottom teams coming up. Coming on against a low block was always one of his strengths. Beats us panic buying and beats him going out on another panic loan move.

Elliot wasn’t part of the managers plans in August. Slot knew then how he wanted to play. I can’t see that changing now.
We struggle massively in aerial duels. Can’t see 5’7 Elliot being the man he turns too.

Protected by who?
And how far away from being match fit is he?
Why wouldn't you give Trey Nyoni a chance given he's been waiting patiently for a season and a half now?

You must be joking! Slot doesn’t rate Elliott. Nyoni has far more chance of making the first team than Harv. This fandom that puts guys like him and Tsimi in the team because of their “passion” is pure Roy Of The Rovers crapola. Modern football is analytics, stats and money. It’s now a lot about power and pace. Elliott has neither, much as I like him.

JK he would have Szobo Jones and Graveberch in mid still. Rather than being part of that 3. We have been far tighter since the change of system. Similiar to why Wirtz is playing better.

We’ve already got a bunch of physical lightweights in midfield who can’t defend so how is Elliott changing that?
21 Dec 2025 13:50:21
Changing what? I said he's not a solution to our problems and not a long term solution. I also clearly mentioned he's lightweight and would be more of a Salah/ Macca rotation in this system than swap for Szobo, Jones or Grav. We will have CL and FA cup games back before we know it. Salah is away, we don't know how long Isak could be gone for, Chisea cearly can't do full games and seems in agreement with it. Is Elliot anymore lightweight than Frimpong? any slower than Macca atm? just said he could come in and take minutes, that's all.
Our squad is not as deep as you all think. Elliot was a terrible option for the way slot played last year i. e. overload the middle to create 1 v 1s for wide players but this system is a complete change and would definitely suit Elliot.
With Doms suspension we love incredible light on the right. Suggestion Nyoni is silly, that angle of the pitch would not suit him. Elliot has played in that area for Liverpool almost 100 times. I'm just saying he's not the worse cover. Chill folks.

It’s not just Slot who doesn’t rate Elliott. He’s barely kicked a ball for Villa so Emery must rate him even less than Slot does.
In fact no one in their right mind would think Elliott could be any more than a substitute if you need attacking players on the pitch. He had a great attitude whilst at Liverpool but he’s not good enough unfortunately.

Funky061 great opinion mate.
I’m not saying he shouldn’t play there I’m more saying I can’t see Slot playing him there or anywhere.
21 Dec 2025 15:16:32
Emery has the trophies for his opinion to be respected imho.

You can’t judge a player on slot not rating him. He’s gormless.

Love the word ‘gormless’ ?. Makes you wonder though if some people are ‘gormful’.
