So Isak has had surgery on ankle and fibula fracture.
Is a fibula fracture a bad one?

I’m pretty sure it’s the injury they’re not mentioning that is the stuff to worry about. Broken leg is 2 months and no surgery but the mystery ankle injuries they’ve not named are probably the ankle ligaments and that’s what the surgery was on.

And I’m sorry I forgot to put this in the original reply but the medical staff that allowed the countries record signing to walk off the pitch with a broken leg and torn ankle ligaments (suspected by me hinted at by the club) deserve firing.

@Champions, VVD walked off the pitch after Pickford ripped hiw ligaments apart and I do not recall anyone in the staff getting fired. if that didn't happen then, not sure anything like that will happen now. It's not like they could tell the seriousness of the injury right there and then on the pitchn could they?

I know what I'm thinking but Greggars, why don't you answer this one.

Id just be interested to see if we have the same thoughts again.

Having snapped my Achilles and not only walked off a pitch but got home as well, then to the hospital it’s perfectly possible to walk away with such injuries. Let’s not over exaggerate an already sad issue for the lad.

Isak will be out at least until the middle of March.

23 Dec 2025 09:44:41
According to Slot in his presser it will be "a couple of months" so it sounds like it could have been much worse. Could even be back towards the end of Feb but like Reynard says it's likely to be mid-March.

The good news is that "a couple of months" certainly seems to suggest that there is no serious ligament concerns.

Look obviously some people have missed my point. I’ll attempt to clear it up. Isak walked off the pitch with a broken leg. Not James Milner, not and academy kid, not our 6th choice centre half, the countries most expensive ever player, a guy with a history of injuries, a guy we should take absolutely no risks with, he should’ve had his leg in a brace, oxygen mask and stretcher.

A PE teacher can diagnose a broken leg. The ankle injuries that they’re keeping quiet about are obviously more complex to diagnose on the pitch and will have been suspected but nobody would’ve known for sure without a scan. No problem if he walks off with torn tendons or ligaments, but a broken leg is incompetent.

Lack of pre-season, general lack of fitness and concerns that he can’t play three games a week and now a broken leg. I’d say the club will be targeting 26/ 27 before we see Isak on a regular basis.

Ironically I reckon his first game back will be vs Spurs 14th March at home.

Sounds about right, Kloppers.
